SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Texas A&M men's tennis team will enter the spring season as the No. 12-ranked team in the nation as the Campbell/ITA Division I Men's Tennis Top 25 Rankings were released on Tuesday.
The Aggies, who are coming off a successful 17-9 campaign including a run to NCAA Sweet 16 and No. 14 final national ranking in 2009, return two-time junior All-American Austin Krajicek (Brandon, Fla.) along with eight letterwinners and six heralded newcomers to the squad.
Individually, Krajicek and junior Jeff Dadamo (Tampa, Fla.) are ranked No. 18 nationally in doubles after reaching the semifinals of the prestigious ITA National Indoor Championships in the fall. The Aggie tandem posted a 7-1 tournament record and were crowned Wilson/ITA Texas Regional doubles champions. Dadamo, a transfer from Florida, also came in at No. 32 nationally in singles. He compiled a 9-3 mark with fall tournament victories over four ranked opponents from Louisville, national runner-up Ohio State, Virginia Tech and rival Texas.
A&M will open the 2010 season with a doubleheader scheduled against UT Pan American on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. (CT) followed by a dual match versus Nicholls State at 3 p.m. (CT). All home matches played at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station.
