COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Former Texas A&M softball player Jami Lobpries was hired as an assistant coach at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J. The Wharton, Texas, native is responsible for directing the outfielders and infielders, as well as working with hitters and assisting in recruiting.
An All-Big 12 selection and a member of the 2008 Women's College World Series All-Tournament team, Lobpries continues her coaching career at Monmouth after spending the 2009 season as a student assistant coach with the Aggies. She was most recently in Colorado completing an internship with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in order to finish her master's degree in sport management.
Lobpries, a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M, is a former member of the Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch league and currently plays with the Tennessee Diamonds, a new NPF team in Blount County, Tenn.
In her career at A&M, Lobpries helped lead the Aggies to three Big 12 Championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances, three trips to the Super Regionals, and back-to-back trips to the Women's College World Series, including a national runner-up finish in 2008. She was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament team in 2006 and was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree, as well as a four-time recipient of the Verizon Scholar Athlete award.
