College Station - A second installment of the Dual meet between Texas A&M and Texas in track and field will take place on Saturday in Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium with a start time of 3:30 p.m.
The popular event christened the Aggies' new facility last year with the Texas men and Tennessee women competing against Texas A&M. This time both the Longhorn men and women will square off against the Aggies in a three-hour meet. A live webcast of the meet will be available on www.aggieathletics.com with four different camera views.
Texas A&M enters the meet with its women team ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA preseason rankings while the Aggie men are ranked No. 8. Both squads claimed team titles last weekend over a field of 15 teams at the Texas A&M Invitational. The first set of rankings with data from 2010 indoor meets will be released on January 26.
Texas, meanwhile, is ranked No. 15 in the women's field. The Longhorn men traveled to Arkansas last weekend and lost a dual meet with the Razorbacks.
This weekend's dual meet scoring format awards points to the top two finishers for each team in running and field events and awards points for one relay per school in the 4 x 400 and distance medley relay. Event points are awarded on a 5-3-2-1 format and 5-3 in relays.
With 159 points on offer, the first team to reach 80 points will claim the dual meet win. Last season the Aggie men defeated Texas, 81-77, while the A&M women bettered Tennessee, 83-69.
Since every possible point in each event is valuable, various athletes from each program will double or in some cases run three events in the Texas A&M vs. Texas Dual meet.
Aggie men returning who set meet records a year ago include Zuheir Sharif (53-3) in the triple jump and Nick Cook (51-2.25) in the shot put.
Texas A&M women who hold meet records from their dual with Tennessee last season include Porscha Lucas (7.30 / 23.39) in the 60 and 200, Ashika Charan (20-3) in the long jump.
