COLLEGE STATION, Texas - AggieAthletics.com teams up with SportsRadio 1150, The Zone to broadcast every game of the 2010 Texas A&M softball season.
Fans will be able to listen to select games live locally on 1150 AM and internet broadcasts will be available at AggieAthletics.com or KZNE.com for all games. In addition, several games can be viewed via internet video broadcast on AggieAthletics.com.
"Even before we enjoyed our flagship status with TAMU Athletics we were proud to broadcast softball games," said Ben Downs, KZNE General Manager. "Their success in having eight straight NCAA Tournament appearances and back-to-back trips to the Women's College World Series in 2007-08 means we get to broadcast winners playing at the highest level of softball. And with Jo Evans, we have a coach that takes part in our broadcasts outside of the play-by-play. We've broadcast softball before and are excited to team up with the Aggies again."
Highlighted in The Zone's broadcast schedule is at least one game of almost every non-conference tournament, including the Aggies' opening weekend against Cal State Northridge (Feb. 14). A&M's single contest against Georgia Tech on March 24 is included, and Big 12 games to be aired include two-game series with Baylor (March 31, April 28), Texas (April 7, 21), Texas Tech (May 1-2) and Oklahoma State (May 8-9).
The Zone's program director, Louie Belina, will voice road game play-by-play. He will be joined by Texas A&M Director of Softball Operations, Stephen Grove, as color commentator. Tim Schnettler, a former sports writer for The Bryan-College Station Eagle, joins the Aggies in his second season and will handle play-by-play duties for the home games.
"I appreciate that we're one of the few schools that broadcast radio and that our listeners have a chance to catch us on the internet every game," said A&M head coach Jo Evans. "Louie does a fantastic job and our listeners have really jumped on board with him. He brings the game to life. I'm also excited about having Tim with us for another season."
SportsRadio 1150, The Zone, along with its partner station, News/Talk 1620 WTAW, are the flagship stations for Texas A&M Athletics. Football, men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball are all aired on the stations, along with numerous weekly and daily Aggie coaches' shows.
