Texas A&M sophomore Cameron McLean earned his first-ever Big 12 Diver of the Week honor after posting a pair of NCAA Zone qualifying scores against LSU last weekend, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
McLean, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, helped the No. 19 Aggies to an upset of the No. 17 Tigers in Baton Rouge, La., with a first-place finish in the one-meter springboard with a score of 359.17 and a runner-up finish in the three-meter with a score of 392.25, both season-best efforts. With the victory, the Aggies improved to 3-1 in dual meet action. McLean is the second Aggie to be honored this season, joining senior swimmer Nikita Denisyako.
Taking the men's swimmer of the week honor this week was Missouri's Jan Konarzewski, while the women's honors were received by Missouri swimmer Colleen Gordan and Kansas diver Meg Proehl.
The A&M men's team returns to action when the Aggies travel to Dallas to take on old Southwest Conference rival SMU at 7 p.m. on Friday.
