COLLEGE STATION, Texas—The Texas A&M baseball team opens practice in preparation for the 2010 season on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Olsen Field. The workout is open to the public and fans are encouraged to attend.

“We can't wait to get back out on the field as a team and continue preparations for what should be an exciting year,” fifth-year head coach Brodie Greene (.344, 11 HR, 35 RBI), senior designated hitter and second-team all-conference selection Joe Patterson (.386, 12 HR, 52 RBI), junior honorable mention all-Big 12 catcher Caleb Shofner (.348, 7 HR, 42 RBI).

The pitching staff brings back 21 wins and is led by junior right-hander Clayton Ehlert (5-2), junior right-hander Barret Loux (3-3, 4.12) and sophomore lefty Shane Minks (1-1, 19 appearances), and sophomores Ross Stripling (1-0, 13 apps) and Estevan Uriegas (1-1, 3.09) highlight the arms coming back in the bullpen.

Texas A&M returns 17 letterwinners, five position starters and 10 pitchers from a 2009 squad that racked up 37 wins and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season.

The Aggies will play 37 games in 2010 in front of the Olsen Field faithful, with the home opener slated for Friday, February 19 against Seton Hall. Among the teams making the trip to College Station this spring are Washington State, BYU, Penn State, Rice, Dallas Baptist, Texas Tech, Missouri, Baylor, Oklahoma, Kansas State and Texas.

Season tickets and discounted ticket packages are available now through the Athletic Ticket Office, and can be purchased in person at Kyle Field or Reed Arena, over the phone at 888-99-AGGIE or online at tickets.12thmanfoundation.com.
