Series Notes
*A&M leads the series, 8-7, and has won six straight since a 91-82 Cyclones win in Ames in 2004.
*The series is tied, 3-3, in games played in Ames. A&M has won two straight -- and three of the last four -- games played at Hilton Coliseum.

Game Notes
*A&M has won four of its last five games but is coming off a 59-54 loss to top-ranked Kansas at home on Monday. Iowa State has lost five straight and is coming off a 69-64 loss to Oklahoma State at home on Wednesday.
*The Aggies have rallied from double-digit deficits in each of their last three victories.
*After opening Big 12 play with a 1-2 mark, A&M has won six of its last eight games, including consecutive road victories at Missouri and Texas Tech.
*The Aggies are  3-4 (2-3 Big 12) in true road games while Iowa State is 10-5 (1-4 Big 12) in home games.
*A&M is 13-4 in its last 17 Big 12 games, second in the Big 12 only to Kansas' 16-1 mark in that span.
*A&M's 7-4 start in Big 12 play is its second-best in the league's 14-year history. The 2006-07 team, which finished 27-7 and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, started 9-2.
*A&M has played eight nationally-ranked opponents, the most of any Big 12 team. A&M played four nationally-ranked non-conference opponents (that doesn't include New Mexico, which entered the rankings the next week). The Aggies' schedule-to-date is ranked as the fifth-toughest nationally, and the toughest outside of the Big East Conference, by CBS Sports.
*A&M is 3-5 against ranked teams this season with wins against No. 19 Clemson (69-60), No. 16 Minnesota (66-65) and No. 20 Baylor (78-71). Six of the Aggies' seven losses have been to teams that have been ranked in the top 25 for multiple weeks (Texas, West Virginia, Washington, New Mexico and Kansas State). The other loss was at Oklahoma State, one of the nation's toughest venues. A&M is 15-2 (6-1 Big 12) against unranked foes.
*The three wins against ranked opponents ties for the third most in school history with the 2005-06 team. The school record is five in 1978-79. The 2006-07 Sweet Sixteen team had 4 wins vs. ranked foes. If one includes only the regular season, the three wins against ranked opponents ties for the second most in school annals.
*In Big 12 play, A&M ranks last in the league in three-point percentage (.247) but is second in two-point percentage (.543).
*A&M is 11-1 this season when scoring at least 70 points.
*A&M leads the Big 12 in fewest average turnovers (12.2)
*A&M has averaged 35.6 points in the paint in the last five games along with 16.6 offensive rebounds and 15.2 second-chance points.
*A&M is 15-2 this season when out-rebounding its opponents.
*A&M has posted an average rebounding margin of +11.0 in the last five games and has had at least a +8 margin in each of those contests.  Through the first 20 games, A&M had a +0.4 margin. A&M out-rebounded top-ranked Kansas by 8, the best all season by a Jayhawks opponent.
*A&M is 16-2 this season when it has more free throw attempts than its opponent.
*A&M held Kansas to just 59 points, the first time the Jayhawks have failed to score at least 72 in league play this season.
*A&M is 15-1 this season when its opponents score fewer than 70 points.
*Bryan Davis is averaging 11.8 points and 8.1 rebounds in Big 12 play. He ranks second in field goal percentage (.575) among league players who have at least 50 field goals made.
*Davis needs seven points to become the 31st A&M player to reach 1,000 in a career.
*David Loubeau has averaged 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in the last five games.
*Donald Sloan has averaged 20.2 points in the last six games

About Iowa State
*The Cyclones went 11-4 in non-conference play but are 2-9 in Big 12 games.
*Iowa State is in its fourth season under Coach Greg McDermott. The Cyclones are led by preseason first-team All-Big 12 forward Craig Brackins, who is averaging 16.8 points and 8.4 rebounds. Forward Marquis Gilstrap, the preseason pick as Big 12 newcomer of the year, adds 14.4 points and 9.3 rebounds.

Last Year's Game
COLLEGE STATION (AP/Feb. 28, 2009) - Josh Carter had seven 3-pointers and a career-high 29 points to lead A&M to an 87-69 win over Iowa State. The Aggies used a 14-4 run in the opening minutes of the second half to stretch a seven-point lead into a a 58-41 advantage. Carter was 7-of-10 from 3-point range and finished just one shy of his career-high of eight 3s. Chinemelu Elonu added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Aggies. Iowa State was led by Craig Brackins' 20 points.

Last Time in Ames
AMES, Iowa (AP, Feb. 5, 2008) -- Josh Carter added 12 as No. 18 A&M cruised past Iowa State 69-51. Donald Sloan had 11 points and three other players had at least eight for the Aggies, who went on a 31-9 run that stretched from the end of the first half until midway through the second.  A&M snapped Iowa State's nine-game home winning streak. The Aggies kept Iowa State without a rebound for the opening 7:35 of the second half. Jiri Hubalek scored 18 points to lead the Cyclones and Wesley Johnson, playing with a sore left ankle, added 13.

Sidebar
*A&M Coach Mark Turgeon's and Iowa State Coach Greg McDermott were coaching rivals in the Missouri Valley Conference for four years before coming to the Big 12. Turgeon's Wichita State teams were 3-5 against McDermott's Northern Iowa teams. Turgeon has evened the head-to-head record (5-5) since coming to A&M.

Roland's Value
*Senior guard Derrick Roland will miss the rest of the season after breaking his right leg on Dec. 22 against Washington. Roland was considered by many to be the top perimeter defender in the Big 12. He was the Aggies' No. 2 scorer, a team captain and perhaps the team's top leader.
*To illustrate Roland's importance to the team, because of foul trouble or injury he played fewer than 25 minutes in all three losses. His fewest minutes played came in the close losses to New Mexico (14 minutes, early foul trouble) and Washington (16 minutes, leg injury). He also got in foul trouble against West Virginia (24 minutes) and was on the bench during a key second-half run by the Mountaineers.

Depleted Roster
*When last season ended, Coach Turgeon thought he would have four senior starters returning in 2009-10. But All-Big 12 center Chinemelu Elonu opted to remain in the NBA Draft and was chosen late in the second round by the Los Angeles Lakers. Then Roland was lost before the Christmas break to a season-ending broken leg.
*In addition,  Turgeon expected to have the services of freshmen big men Kourtney Roberson (6-9, 230) and Ray Turner (6-8, 220) when fall practice began. However, Roberson did not qualify and Turner was not cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse to even practice until mid-December. A&M re-signed Roberson, who is attending a prep school, in November as part of the 2010 recruiting class.
*In addition, DeAndre Jordan entered the 2008 NBA Draft after his freshman season. He would have been a junior this year. Jordan was a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Clippers.
