PARRISH, Fla. - The No. 16-ranked Texas A&M women's golf team opens its spring season at the Central District Invitational starting on Monday at River Wilderness Country Club.
The 54-hole tournament continues through Tuesday. Joining the Aggies in the 15-team field are Arkansas, No. 17 Florida, Kent State, No. 18 LSU, Michigan, No. 10 Michigan State, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, No. 24 Ohio State, No. 4 Purdue, No. 23 South Carolina, TCU and Texas.
Representing A&M will be senior Julia Boland, junior Ashley Freeman and junior Alexa Porter.
"We are so excited to get back out into competition," A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. "This has seemed like such a long layoff. We've had great success at the Central District Challenge in the past and I look for nothing less this time around."
The Aggies won two tournaments in the fall and placed in the top four in four of five events. They overcame a 21-stroke deficit to win the Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin in their final fall tournament in November.
Boland led the Aggies in the fall, winning two individual titles and posting a team-best 72.00 stroke average.
