COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M baseball team opens up a 17-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon when the Aggies (5-2) host BYU (2-4) at Olsen Field.
First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. in order to allow fans to attend both the baseball game and the men's basketball game against Oklahoma State at 8:05 p.m. at Reed Arena.
A&M has won two straight and is coming off a second-place finish in the QTI Baylor Classic over the weekend. The Aggies enter the week hitting .336 as a team, with six home runs in seven games, and sport an impressive 2.47 ERA--second-best in the Big 12.
The Cougars have also won two in a row entering a Tuesday game at Baylor. BYU dropped its first four games of the year before bouncing back to take the final two of a series at UC Davis last weekend. The Cougars are hitting .319 as a team and have swiped 14 bases on the young season.
Senior right-hander Clayton Ehlert will get the start for Texas A&M and will face BYU freshman lefty Mark Anderson, who will be making the first start of his career.
Wednesday will mark just the second meeting between the programs on the baseball diamond. A&M defeated BYU, 25-4, in the only other game between the schools on May 26, 1989 at the NCAA Central Regional in College Station.
Tickets for the game are available online at tickets.12thmanfoundation.com or at the gate at Olsen Field. Fans can also purchase tickets for just $4 at the Old Army Spirit Company on Harvey Road. The broadcast of the game will be available locally on WTAW-AM 1620.
