Texas A&M junior Sarah Zwartynski closed with the low individual round of the day to outdistance the field at the 37th annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Sunday at the University of Texas Golf Club.

Tied for first place after two rounds, Zwartynski fired the day's only sub-par round to earn the first victory of her A&M career. Zwartynski's 1-under 71 put her at 3-under for the tournament and gave her a six-shot victory over runner-up Marina Alex of Vanderbilt. Zwartynski's victory was the fifth by an Aggie in 2009-10. She is the third Aggie to win the Betsy Rawls Invitational crown, joining Kristina Edfors in 1993 and Anna Beck in 1998. Zwartynski finished with rounds of 70-71-71=213.

"Sarah played awesome all day, and really for the entire tournament," A&M women's golf coach Trelle McCombs said. "She was so steady. I'm very proud of her and I'm glad that all her hard work is paying off for her."

As a team, the Aggies carded a final round 308 to finish plus-33 and third behind UCLA (+20) and Arizona (+26). The Aggies had rounds of 299-290-308=897. Rounding out the top 10 teams were TCU (+37), Texas (+43), Stanford (+45), Vanderbilt (+49), Oregon (+57), New Mexico (+61) and Chattanooga (+63).

"The team was playing great, but gave up a few strokes coming in," McCombs said. "Overall, it was a great tournament for us. That was a tough field and a good test of what we will see at the NCAA Championships."

Senior Julia Boland finished plus-5 and in a tie for fifth (74-72-75=221). Senior Ashley Freeman finished in a tie for 16th at plus-37 (76-72-84=232). Freshman Sarah Beth Davis finished in a tie for 63rd at plus-23 (81-74-84=239). Playing as an individual, freshman Aly Smith was plus-28 and finished in a tie for 76th (79=80-85=244).
