The No. 8 Texas A&M men's golf team finished third at the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday at The Landing at Reynolds Plantation.

The Aggies closed with 4-under par 284, their lowest team score of the tournament, but it wasn't enough to catch No. 2 Oklahoma State and No. 24 Alabama. A&M couldn't overcome its first day score of plus-17 305 despite being 7-under the rest of the tournament.

"We showed great heart the last two days and played better than anyone else in the field, but you cannot spot good teams a lead like that and expect to come out with a victory," A&M men's golf coach J.T. Higgins said.

The Aggies got to 4-under on Sunday with below-par rounds from freshman Andrea Pavan (71), and ended the tournament with Russell, Peck and junior Conrad Shindler in the top 10 of the individual standings.

"We had three guys under par again on Sunday, and Jordan, Conrad and Cameron finished in the top 10, so we've got some great things to build on before our next event," Higgins said.

Russell was even-par for the tournament and finished in a tie for fourth (76-70-70=216). Shindler was plus-1 and finished in a tie for seventh (73-70-74=217). Peck was five-under the last two days and finished tied for 10th at plus-2 (79-70-69=218). Pavan tied for 25th at plus-7 (77-75-71=223), and Nacho Elvira tied for 63rd at plus-27 (79-77-77=233).

The top 10 teams at the tournament were Oklahoma State (+1), Alabama (+3), Texas A&M (+10), No. 15 Georgia Tech (+15), No. 10 Georgia (+15), Furman (+22), No. 11 Florida State (+31), Charlotte (+33), Kennesaw State (+38) and Oklahoma (+42).
