The No. 18 Texas A&M women's golf team will compete in the University of Mississippi's Rebel Intercollegiate Friday through Sunday at the par 72, 6,351-yard Ole Miss Golf Course.
In addition to the Aggies and host Ole Miss, the 20-team Rebel Intercollegiate field includes competitors from Arkansas-Little Rock, Augusta State, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Illinois State, Kansas, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Murray State, Oklahoma, Princeton, SMU, Southern Mississippi, South Florida, Tulane and Wisconsin.
The Aggies jumped two spots to No. 18 in this week's edition of the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings. Aggies ranked among the top 100 individuals are senior Julia Boland (No. 19), junior Sarah Beth Davis (81).
“It's a solid field, but our main goal is trying to take each week as a great experience toward the postseason,” A&M women's golf coach Trelle McCombs said. “If we're playing great golf, it doesn't matter who is in the field.”
A&M is coming off a third-place team finish at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, which included Zwartynski's first career individual victory. The Aggies finished behind No. 2 UCLA and No. 8 Arizona, while tallying head to head victories over four teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 25 – No. 12 Stanford, No. 22 Vanderbilt, No. 23 New Mexico and No. 25 TCU.
“All of my players are out to get some revenge from last week's meet – not with other teams, but with themselves,” McCombs said. “We put ourselves in a good position, but we know there were several shots that could have been saved. It's always a learning experience out there.”
McCombs will field the same lineup as last week with Boland, Zwartynski, Davis, freshman Ashley Freeman. Freshman Aly Smith will be playing as an individual.
