The No. 18 Texas A&M women's golf team charged to the final day's lowest score but it wasn't enough to catch Tulane for the team championship at the Rebel Intercollegiate on Sunday at the Ole Miss Golf Course.
The Aggies carded a one-under par 287 to make up eight shots on Tulane, but fell three strokes shy of catching the Green Wave. A&M finished the tournament at 18-over par with rounds of 298-295-287 to grab runner-up honors at the Rebel Intercollegiate.
“I couldn't be more proud of my team,” Aggie women's golf coach Trelle McCombs said. “Their energy and attitudes were unmatched. If we take the things we did today into each and every round, then we will do some great things the rest of the season. It was a total team effort.”
Four Aggies posted even-par or better rounds on Sunday with senior Ashley Freeman shooting a one-under 71 to lead the way. Freeman finished the tournament in a tie for eighth place at two-over (71-76-71=218).
