The No. 4 Texas A&M men's golf team will face a strong field at the 44th annual Morris Williams Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the University of Texas Golf Club. The 54-hole tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday with 36 holes.
In addition to the Aggies and the host Longhorns (No. 5), the field includes Oklahoma State (No. 1), TCU (No. 16), Georgia (No. 19), Texas Tech (No. 21), Kansas State, LSU, Baylor, UTSA, Arkansas, Pepperdine, SMU, New Mexico and Tulsa.
“The University of Texas Golf Course is a very tough layout and the field is outstanding, including Texas on their home track,” Aggie men's golf coach J.T. Higgins said. “We always appreciate the opportunity to battle them on their home course and we are looking forward to the next couple of days. I think we will be up to the challenge.”
The Aggies are coming off a third-place team finish at the Linger Longer Invitational last weekend in Greensboro, Ga. A&M put three players in the individual top 10 at the tournament, but finished nine shots behind team champion Oklahoma State.
A&M will take a lineup of senior Andrea Pavan, freshman Cameron Peck, sophomore Jordan Russell, junior Conrad Shindler and junior John Hurley. Junior Nacho Elvira will compete as an individual.
