COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 23rd-ranked Texas A&M baseball team opens a brief two-game homestand on Tuesday when the Aggies host UTSA at Olsen Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
A&M (18-8-1) sits in third place in the Big 12 with a 5-3-1 mark and is coming off a series split at Kansas this past weekend in Lawrence. The Aggies fell to the Jayhawks in the opener Thursday evening before bouncing back to take the middle game on Friday, 6-4. Saturday's series finale finished in an 8-8 tie in 11 innings after travel restrictions forced the game to come to an end without a winner.
The Roadrunners enter Tuesday's contest at 12-14 and 3-9 in Southland play. UTSA picked up a key win at Houston, 6-5, last week before taking two of three games at A&M-Corpus Christi. The win over the Cougars snapped a six-game losing skid for the Roadrunners.
Senior right-hander Clayton Ehlert (1-3, 7.77 ERA) will get the ball for the Aggies and will face UTSA junior lefty Justin Martinez (0-0, 6.00). Texas A&M leads the all-time series with the Roadrunners, 18-8, and has won four straight.
A&M will host Baylor in the series opener Friday night before continuing the series and opening a four-game road swing the following evening at Baylor Ballpark in Waco. Tickets remain for the game with the Bears Friday evening and can be purchased online at tickets.12thmanfoundation.com.
