The Texas A&M women's golf team will face a strong field at the University of Florida's SunTrust Gator Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Aggies will play 36 holes on Saturday and finish with 18 holes on Sunday. In addition to the No. 18 Aggies, the field includes No. 10 Florida, No. 14 Michigan State, Central Florida, Chattanooga, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, South Florida and UNC-Greensboro.
"This is a golf course we haven't seen before," Aggie golf coach Trelle McCombs said. "I get really excited to see what we can do on golf courses that we haven't seen in the past. The girls were excited at how we finished last week. This team can compete with anyone when we are firing on all cylinders."
The Aggies placed second at the University of Mississippi's Rebel Intercollegiate in their most recent action. Four Aggies posted even-par or better scores in the final rounds as A&M posted the low score of the day and made a charge at the top of the leaderboard. Finishing in the individual top 10 last week were seniors Julia Boland (t-2nd) and Ashley Freeman (t-8th).
A&M will take a lineup of Boland, Freeman, junior Sarah Beth Davis and Chloe Garner to the SunTrust Gator Invitational. Live results from the SunTrust Gator Invitational can be found at: golfstat.com.
