COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 21 Texas A&M softball team closes out its five-game homestand on Wednesday with its final non-conference game of the year against Sam Houston State. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.
In the second of a two-game series, the Aggies (32-11) and the Bearkats (15-22) last met in Huntsville, Texas, on Feb. 17 when A&M took home a 2-1 victory. Senior Macie Morrow scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning for the game-winner, and sophomore Kelsea Orsak started the scoring in the same frame with a solo home run.
Texas A&M leads the all-time series 81-13 and has won 35 straight games against SHSU dating back to 1995.
A&M is coming off of two losses to then-No. 11 Oklahoma and is 5-5 in its last 10 contests. The Aggies won a pair of mid-week games last week against SFA and No. 16 Texas and post a .287 team batting average and 2.51 team ERA for the season.
Sam Houston swept A&M-Corpus Christi on the road last weekend and enters Wednesday's game hitting .258 with a team ERA of 3.07. The Bearkats are led by Tomi Garrison (.417) who has only played in roughly half of their games. Hailey Wiginton (.336) has a team-best 37 hits, five doubles and 19 runs scored. Morgan Mikulin (10-15) has seen the most time in the circle and records a 2.99 ERA with 89 K's in 143 innings pitched.
Freshman Meagan May continues to pace the Aggies with a .402 batting average, 49 hits and 15 doubles. She also leads the Big 12 with 17 home runs, 53 RBIs, 36 walks, 115 total bases and a .943 slugging percentage. Freshman Melissa Dumezich (8-1) has the lowest ERA at 2.00 and adds 67 strike outs in 66.2 innings of work.

Texas A&M returns to Big 12 play and heads to Ames, Iowa, this weekend for a pair of contests against the Cyclones. Game times are set for 2 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.
LAST TIME OUT
Dumezich hit a walk-off RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift A&M to a 1-0 victory over Texas before a crowd of 1,281 last Wednesday. The Aggies were then swept by Oklahoma over the weekend. A&M committed four errors in a 6-0 loss Saturday, before falling 9-4 on Sunday after the Sooners plated five runs in the sixth inning.

Texas A&M is ranked 21st in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 this week and No. 22 in the USA Today/NFCA poll. A&M's remaining ranked opponents are No. 11/14 Missouri, No. 9 Oklahoma State, and No. 14/15 Texas. In addition, Baylor is receiving votes.
