COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Big 12 Conference, in conjunction with Chick-fil-A, recently honored Texas A&M senior outfielder Bailey Schroeder as a Spring Community of Champions.

From College Station, Schroeder is one of 12 conference student-athletes, and one of only two Big 12 softball players, recognized for her academics, community service and leadership/sportsmanship.

As a captain of the Aggie softball team, Schroeder is an allied health major who is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 award winner and has been honored as a Texas A&M/Verizon Scholar Athlete at the CHAMPS Awards Banquet the past three years. She is a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee team representative, Aggie Athletes Involved member, and a HOSTS (Helping One Student to Succeed) volunteer.

The Community of Champions honors one-student athlete from each institution during the fall, winter and spring terms based on the following criteria.

1) An academic standard of a 3.00 grade point average or higher must be maintained.

2) The designated student-athlete should be involved with at least one community service program. The program(s) could be a student organization on campus or within the athletics department.

3) The student-athlete should demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship on and off the field.

Texas A&M and each institution of the student-athletes' on this list are awarded $3,000 each year from Chick-fil-A for their efforts.
