The Texas A&M Maroon & White football game saw a back and forth affair as the Aggie offense edged the Aggie defense, 102-94, before an estimated crowd of 15,000 at Kyle Field on Saturday.

The final touchdown pass from local product Patrick O'Quinn from A&M Consolidated High School to Keon Furtch, from Paris High School, as time expired allowed the offense to claim victory.

“We've had a few players out and some others who were limited today, but I was pleased with the competition on the field,” Head Coach Mike Sherman said. “I like the competitive spirit of our team. Each and every play has an opportunity to be rewarded for positive results, but also to face the consequences of a negative play taking points off of the board. We have utilized this system throughout our spring drills.”

“I thought the crowd was great and they seemed to be into the scrimmage,” Sherman stated. “Even with that last drive with some of the younger players I thought kept people interested. I do not believe we got anyone injured and I sure appreciated the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band and many of our fans for coming out to the game.”
Aggie quarterback Jerrod Johnson started the game going  5-of-6 for 54 yards before ending the day 5-of-9. Johnson, a senior in the fall from Humble High School, has been limited this spring after having his shoulder 'scoped in the off-season.

Backup quarterback Ryan Tannehill, a junior to be from Big Spring High School, was 10-of-16 for 73 yards.
Running back Cyrus Gray, a junior to be from DeSoto High School, rushed for a couple of scores and ended the day with 65 yards on 10 carries including a 21-yard scamper to set up one touchdown.

Defensive backs Von Miller, a returning All-America, on one particular series. Junior cornerback  Coryell Judie from Marlin High School picked off one pass to snuff out a drive.

In between quarters, the special teams got in some work and sophomore to be Ryan Swope, from Austin Westlake High School, broke a long kickoff return and punter returner Dustin Harris, a sophomore to be from Livingston High School, made some nifty moves as well.

The Aggies will close out spring drills this next week with two additional practices.

The Aggies will open the 2010 season at home on Sept. 4 against Stephen F. Austin.
