Aggies Conclude Regular Season at CU, MU

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M women's tennis team concludes its regular season this weekend, taking on No. 68 Colorado on Friday in Boulder, Colo., and finishing at Missouri on Sunday.

First serve against the Buffaloes is at 2 p.m. (3 p.m. CT) at either the Millennium Harvest House Indoor Courts or the outdoor South Campus Courts, weather permitting. The match at Missouri is at noon (CT) at the Green Tennis Center in Columbia, Mo.

A&M, ranked 36th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), is 11-8 overall and in fourth place in the Big 12 Conference with a 6-3 mark. The Aggies are coming off a 5-2 loss to No. 19 Texas on Tuesday in College Station.

Freshman Nazari Urbina (Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico) is A&M's top ranked singles player, coming in at No. 49. She boasts a 13-0 record at the No. 2 singles line, including 9-0 in Big 12 matches only. Urbina and junior Morgan Frank (Oldsmar, Fla.) lead the Aggies with identical 18-2 overall dual match records. The two are a combined 36-3 at No. 2 and 3 singles.

Senior Elzé Potgieter (Bloemfontein, South Africa), No. 59 in the ITA singles rankings, is 88-52 in career singles matches, tying her with former All-American Kim Labuschagne (1985-87) for seventh place in the A&M records for career victories. Potgieter plays No. 1 singles, where she is 10-9 this season.

In doubles, the duo of Urbina and Potgieter is 11-6 at the No. 1 line and is No. 40 in the ITA national doubles rankings.

A&M head coach Bobby Kleinecke, who stands at 399-264 in his 25th season at the helm of the Aggies, will not be at this weekend's matches, as he has returned home to tend to a family emergency.

Colorado is 10-10 overall and is tied with Kansas State for eighth place in the Big 12 with a 3-6 record. The Buffs are coming off a 7-0 loss at Baylor on Sunday.

CU senior Monica Milewski is 6-1 in Big 12 matches at the No. 1 line and is No. 93 in the ITA singles rankings.

Missouri is 6-14 overall and 1-8 in the Big 12 entering a match against No. 19 Texas on Friday. The Tigers fell at Texas Tech, 5-2, in their most recent outing.

A&M is 12-2 in the all-time series against Colorado and has won the last 11 meetings. Last year, the Aggies defeated the Buffs, 5-2, in College Station. CU's most recent win against A&M was 1998.

A&M is 15-1 against Missouri and has won the last seven meetings.

The Aggies head to the Big 12 Championships next week. The tournament, to be hosted by Texas, will be held April 29-May 2 at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin.
