The No. 24 Texas A&M women's golf team is tied for seventh after the opening round of the 2010 Big 12 Championships on Friday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.

The Aggies carded a 17-over 305 and go into Saturday's second round trailing leader Oklahoma State by 12 shots. The two-time defending champion Cowgirls led the way with a five-over 293 and are trailed by Texas Tech (+11), Iowa State (+12), Colorado (+14), Texas (+14), Texas A&M (+17), Nebraska (+17), Oklahoma (+18), Missouri (+19), Baylor (+24) and Kansas (+26).

"We didn't look like ourselves out there today," Aggie women's golf coach Trelle McCombs said. "I think our nerves got in the way a little. The wind played a factor but there were shots that we gave away that we don't normally give away. (Saturday) is a new day, and we are in a familiar position. We just need to go out and put up some good numbers and we are capable of doing that."

Junior Ashley Freeman carded a five-over 77 and is tied for 28th.  Senior Julia Boland shot a six-over 78 and is tied for 35th. Freshman Sara Beth Davis posted a seven-over 79 and is tied for 43.

The Aggies will tee off on the 10th hole beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and are paired with Nebraska and Oklahoma for the second round.
