The No. 24 Texas A&M women's golf team rallied from 11 shots down in the final round to win the 2010 Big 12 Championship on Sunday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
The Aggies' rally past second-rounder leader Oklahoma State was the largest final round comeback in the history of the Big 12 Women's Golf Championships, supplanting the four-shot rally by the Aggies to beat OSU at the 2007 Championships. A&M entered Sunday's round tied for third with Kansas State and behind OSU and Texas.
"Today was such a total team effort," third-year Aggie coach Sarah Beth Davis, who shot from 30th to a tie for seventh in the final individual standings. Davis' round was the low round of the day, and tied an A&M record for the postseason (Ashley Knoll also had a 69 at the 2006 Big 12 Championships). Davis finished seven-over par with rounds of 79-75-69=223.
Zwartynski shot a 75 on Sunday and was the Aggies' top finisher in a tie for fifth place at six over with rounds of 74-73-75=222. Senior Julia Boland tied for 11th at nine-over with rounds of 78-73-74=225. Senior Ashley Freeman finished in a tie for 20th at 13-over (77-74-78=229). Freshman Chloe Garner finished in a tie for 44th at 20-over (76-82-78=236)
