The Texas A&M women's tennis team will be the No. 4 seed at the 2010 Big 12 Championships and will begin quarterfinal play Friday at noon at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas.

The Aggies (13-8, 8-3 Big 12) received a first-round bye and will play the winner between No. 5-seed Oklahoma and No. 12 seed Kansas, who face off Thursday at 10 a.m.

Earlier this season, A&M defeated Oklahoma, 4-3, in Norman on April 10, with Aggie freshman Nazari Urbina notching a three-set victory in the last singles match standing to clinch the win.

A&M defeated the Jayhawks, 7-0, on March 19 in College Station. It marked the Aggies' only shutout in Big 12 play this season.

Baylor is the tournament's No. 1 seed after going 11-0 and capturing its sixth consecutive Big 12 regular season title. Host Texas is the No. 2 seed, and Nebraska is the No. 3 seed.

Texas Tech is the No. 6 seed, followed by No. 7 Oklahoma State, No. 8 Kansas State, No. 9 Colorado, No. 10 Iowa State and No. 11 Missouri.

The Longhorns have won a league-leading seven Big 12 tournament titles (1997-2002, '05). Baylor has won four titles, each in the last four years, while Oklahoma State was crowned in 2003 and A&M won in 2004.

Last year, the top-seeded Lady Bears upended No. 3 Texas, 4-1.

All-session passes to the 2010 Big 12 Championship are available at Penick-Allison Tennis Center at $10 for adults and $5 for youth, while day passes are $5 for adults and $3 for youth.
