Texas A&M's Andrea Pavan and Jordan Russell were named to the All-Big 12 Men's Golf team after compiling strong 2009-10 seasons, the conference office announced.
The Big 12's all-conference golf team consists of the top 10 highest-ranked student-athletes in the Golfweek/Sagarin rating at the conclusion of last weekend's Big 12 Championships. Pavan was the Big 12's second-highest ranked player at No. 13, while Russell was ranked No. 25.
Pavan, a senior from Rome, Italy, leads the team in scoring with a 71.62 average and he's had seven top 10 finishes in 11 tournaments this season. Pavan was the individual medalist at the John Burns Invitational with a 12-under par effort that included a final round 65, and he tied for third at the Big 12 Championships last week.
Russell, a sophomore from College Station, Texas, ranks No. 2 on the team with a 71.85 scoring average, and he's had five top 10 finishes in nine tournaments in 2009-10. He notched his first career victory at the Aggie Invitational when he fired a 10-under par 206 to edge his teammate Geoff Shaw by a stroke. Russell was the Aggies' No. 2 finisher at the Big 12 tournament at seventh place with an even par score of 288.
