Texas A&M women's golf coach Trelle McCombs earned Coach of the Year honors and three Aggies received all-conference mention to highlight the Big 12 Women's Golf Postseason Honors, which were released on Wednesday.
McCombs, in her third season at the helm of the Aggie women's team, oversaw the Aggies' amazing comeback victory at the Big 12 Championships last weekend. A&M made up a 12-stroke deficit, including 11 shots in the final round, to nudge the two-time defending champion Oklahoma State Cowgirls by a stroke. The Big 12 Championships were the fourth tournament victory for the Aggies in 2009-10.
Earning All-Big 12 honors from the women's team were senior Julia Boland, junior Sarah Beth Davis, who were all among the 10 highest ranked individuals from the Big 12 Conference in the Golfweek/Sagarin individual rankings. Boland was ranked No. 27, Zwartynski ranked No. 76 and Davis was ranked just outside the top 100.
Boland also received Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors after winning three tournaments and compiling a 71.95 stroke average. Boland, a graduate of the University of Sydney, enrolled at A&M last August and is pursuing a master's degree.
