INDIANAPOLIS - The Texas A&M men's tennis team earned its 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament bid and one of 16 top seeds as the field of 64 for the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships was revealed on Tuesday.

The 10th-seeded and 10th-ranked Aggies (23-6) will host one of 16 first-and second-round sites to be played on May 14-15 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. A&M will face Southwestern Athletic Conference champion Prairie View A&M (10-15) in the first round slated for Friday, May 14 at 6 p.m. (CT) preceded by a matchup between Mountain West Conference champion TCU (12-12) and No. 18-ranked Mississippi (18-7) at 3 p.m. (CT). The winners from both first-round matches will compete in second-round action on Saturday, May 15 at 3 p.m. (CT).

"We are excited to start NCAA Tournament play," said Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton who has led the Aggies to four of the program's 17 consecutive berths. "We are familiar with all three schools, Prairie View and TCU from the state of Texas, and playing Ole Miss in the Round of 16 last year here in College Station. You have to respect all of these teams. TCU and Prairie View won their conference tournament and all three have some really good players in their lineup. We know we are going to have to beat two quality teams to get to Athens (Georgia) and we anticipated that. We've worked really hard this season to be in the position we are in (as a top seed) and hopefully, we can hold serve and get to Athens."

The Aggies are an undefeated 2-0 in the all-time series with Prairie View A&M and last met Mississippi in a 4-1 loss in the NCAA Sweet 16 a year ago in College Station. They lead 3-2 in the all-time series with Ole Miss and have won the last four-straight meetings with old Southwest Conference rival TCU, despite the Horned Frogs' 31-12 advantage in the series.

A&M, which has won 16 of its last 18 matches of the season and finished second in the Big 12 Conference, is heading into NCAA Tournament play ranked among the top 10 teams in the country for the first time since 2003. The Aggies were also ranked No. 10 leading into their first-round match versus Maryland-Baltimore County on May 9, 2003 in College Station. They are making their 18th overall NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and have reached the Round of 16 on nine all-time occasions and the Elite Eight once in 2001.

The winner of each site will advance to the combined NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Championships hosted by the University of Georgia. The team championship will be held on May 20-25 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. Fifth-seeded and fifth-ranked USC (19-3) enters this year's tournament as the defending men's national champion.

Each team will play a single-elimination tournament at 16 first-and second-round sites (four teams at each site) and the finals site (16-team bracket) to determine the national champion. The matches will be regulation dual matches with three (3) eight-game, pro-set doubles played for one team point, followed by six (6) singles matches, each valued at one team point, played best of three sets. Regular scoring will be used and a 12-point tiebreaker will be played at eight games all in doubles and at six games all in singles.

Fans can purchase tickets by calling the 12th Man Foundation Ticket Center at 1-888-99-AGGIE or by going online at: www.12thManFoundation.com/tickets. Participants in the 64-player singles championship and 32-team doubles championship bracket will be announced and posted on Wednesday, May 5 before 5 p.m. (CT) at www.NCAA.org. Individuals selected to participate will join the final 16 men's and women's teams on May 26-31 in Athens, Ga.
