"It's always good to make the NCAA Championships," A&M coach Bobby Kleinecke said. "There are only 64 teams that make it. It is a special time of year, and we do our best to make sure the players really take in the honor that it is to go out and play in the NCAA Championships, because not every team gets a chance to do that."

A&M players and fans gathered at Jason's Deli to watch the Selection Show, and they were kept in suspense until the final eight teams in the 64-team field were unveiled on ESPNews.

"Obviously with us being down towards the (end of the announcement), you're kind of worried," A&M coach Bobby Kleinecke said. "You don't see your name up there and you're a little bit sweating it out, but there were enough teams in there that we knew we were higher than and had wins over that (the Selection Committee) couldn't have put them in without us. In that sense, we kept thinking surely this is going to happen."

A&M, making its 16th overall NCAA appearance, enters the tournament 14-9 and ranked 35th in the nation. One of the Aggies' losses was a narrow 4-3 setback against South Florida earlier this season in Tampa, Fla.

"I haven't really followed how they have done since then, but we had a close match with them and we are looking forward to the opportunity to get a chance to play them again," Kleinecke said. "Obviously we know a lot about them. They know about us. Our lineup has changed. Their lineup has probably changed, so it will be an interesting match and fun to play.

"We are a little bit more banged up at this time of the year, but hopefully we will have some time to get back and get ready and go make a good run at them and get a chance to get some redemption."

A&M and USF are both coming off semifinal losses in their respective conference tournaments. The Aggies, who placed fourth in the Big 12 regular season with an 8-3 record, defeated Oklahoma in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championships before being eliminated by No. 1-ranked and top-seeded Baylor Saturday in Austin, Texas. The Lady Bears went on to win the Big 12 Championship and earn the league's NCAA automatic bid.

USF, No. 27 in this week's ITA national rankings, defeated Rutgers, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championships before falling to 30th-ranked DePaul, 4-0, in the semifinals. The Bulls are making their ninth appearance in the NCAA tournament and their first appearance since 2005.

Miami, ranked 11th in the nation, was upset by No. 20 Georgia Tech, 4-3, in the quarterfinals of the ACC Women's Tennis championships. The Hurricanes are making their 15th consecutive and 25th overall appearance in the NCAA Championships.

Boston is making its 12th straight and overall appearance after earning an automatic bid by defeating Binghamton, 4-3, to capture the America East title.

A&M is 5-1 in the all-time series against USF. The Aggies are 4-2 against Miami and have never faced Boston.
