The No. 24 Texas A&M women's golf team improved to a tie for ninth on Friday but will need a rally in Saturday's final round at the NCAA West Regional to advance to the NCAA Championships.

       The Aggies need to jump at least one team to gain an NCAA berth with a top eight team finish at the West Regional. A&M shot an 18-over 302 on Friday at the Stanford Golf Course and stand at 33-over for the tournament. The Aggies are trailing leader Arizona (+17), UCLA (+20), Alabama (+27), Virginia (+28), California (+29), LSU (+29), Texas (+29) and Iowa State (+31), and are tied with Stanford and UNLV at 33-over.

        The Aggies were led by junior Julia Boland carded a four-over 75 and stands in a tie for 13th at five-over. Freshman Sarah Beth Davis posted a 77 and is tied for 21st at seven-over. Senior Ashley Freeman turned in a 78 and is tied for 67th at 13-over. Freshman Chloe Garner shot an 80 and is tied for 85th.

        The Aggies will tee off in the final round at 8 a.m. (Pacific) from the 10th hole, and will be paired with UNLV and San Jose State.
