LAST TIME OUT
Texas A&M junior Rhi Kliesing hit two home runs and drove in all of the Aggies' five runs in a doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma State at Cowgirl Stadium on May 8. A&M downed OSU, 3-1 and 2-1. Prior to facing the Aggies, the Cowgirls (19-2 at home) had lost just one home game all season. Freshman pitcher Alex Reynolds tied the game, 4-4, with a solo home run to lead off the seventh, but a bases-loaded bloop single by BU's Meagan Weldon in the bottom half of the inning proved the game-winner and eliminated the Aggies.
RPI
In the most recent NCAA softball RPI that came out on May 11, Texas A&M jumped up three spots to 14th. Alabama, Washington, Michigan, Florida and Georgia Tech round out the top five, while the Big 12 had five schools in the top 20. Texas was ranked eighth, Missouri 10th, Oklahoma 11th, and Oklahoma State 17th. Texas Tech (43) and Nebraska (50) are on the bubble, while Baylor (62), Iowa State (64) and Kansas (87) are ranked further down on the list.
WHO'S HOT?
Kliesing is riding a seven-game hitting streak and has hit .524 with 11 hits, six runs, a double, three home runs and nine RBIs in the stretch. She cushions those numbers with a 1.000 slugging percentage and .583 on base percentage. Freshman Alex Reynolds was named to the first team and senior Bailey Schroeder and sophomore Rebecca Arbino ranks 18th in the nation in shutouts.
MAY WRITING HER NAME ALL OVER THE RECORD BOOK
May has already written her name in the top 10 of many season records, including first in home runs and total bases, RBIs (2nd), walks (3rd), and doubles (6th). She also ranks ninth in career home runs.
