ATHENS, Ga. - Texas A&M's Jeff Dadamo (Tampa, Fla.) moved on to the round of 32 after the first day of play at the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championship held Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Dadamo, a junior left-hander ranked No. 39 nationally in the Campbell/ITA rankings, defeated No. 26-ranked Steven Forman of Wake Forest in the first round, 6-4, 7-6 (5). He will take on No. 9-16 seeded Tim Puetz of Auburn tomorrow morning in the second round. The time of the match is still to be determined. An A&M player has now advanced past the first round for the second-straight year. Dadamo, a transfer from the University of Florida, is making his first-ever NCAA Singles Championship appearance and faced Forman for the first time since playing each other as youngsters on the juniors circuit.

"Jeff served and returned well today," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "He was able to get crucial service breaks and was down 3-0, broke back and held serve through the tiebreaker. He was a little more aggressive and served better than (Steven) Forman - and that was the difference in the match."

Meanwhile, junior All-American Austin Krajicek (Brandon, Fla.), ranked No. 6 nationally and seeded fifth in the 64-player singles draw, dropped his opening-round match versus No. 33-ranked Marcel Thiemann of Ole Miss in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

Dadamo and Krajicek, the fifth-ranked tandem in the country, will open up play in the 32-team NCAA Doubles Championship tomorrow and are one of the top eight seeds in the draw. They will square off against No. 14-ranked Drew Courtney and Michael Shabaz of Virginia in the first round which is scheduled for a start time of no earlier than 2 p.m. (ET) - 1 p.m. (CT).

Live scoring and live video of each singles and doubles match will be available at the NCAA Tournament Central page located at: http://www.ncaa.com/sports/c-tennis/champpage/c-tennis-div1-index.html
