COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Three members of the Big 12 Champion Texas A&M baseball team were taken in this week's Major League Baseball Draft, which wrapped up Wednesday.
Headlining the list was junior pitcher Barret Loux (Houston), who was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the sixth overall pick. Loux, an All-American and first-team All-Big 12 selection, became the second-highest draftee in school history.
Senior shortstop Brodie Greene (Bullard) was a fourth-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds. Greene wrapped up his Aggie career on Tuesday in the NCAA Coral Gables Regional final, finishing his time at A&M among the leaders in numerous offensive categories. Greene was a second-team All-Big 12 pick this spring.
Junior pitcher Nick Fleece (Fort Worth) was chosen in the 27th round by the Seattle Mariners. Fleece began the season as a starter before moving to the bullpen. He finished the year with a 1-2 mark, 3.76 ERA and a save for the Aggies.
