COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Former Texas A&M soccer player and volunteer assistant coach Allison Martino was hired as an assistant coach at Texas State. The Draper, Utah, native will assist in all aspects of the Bobcat soccer program.
"I'm excited about this new chapter in my life," said Martino. "Working with the Aggie soccer program for the past two years really gave me the foundation I needed to pursue my goal to coach at a Division I program."
Martino played four years under head coach G Guerrieri and established herself as one of the fastest players in the Big 12 with the ball at her feet. She garnered Soccer Buzz All-Central Region honors as a junior and was named All-Big 12 her final two seasons. Martino served as the volunteer assistant coach for Aggie soccer during the 2009 season, following a one-year stint as a student assistant.
In her career at A&M, Martino tallied 22 assists and eight goals. She dished out a career-high three assists against Oklahoma State as a junior and scored a career-best two goals at Nebraska her senior year. Martino led the team with eight assists her junior season.
Following her collegiate career, Martino participated in a U.S. U-21 National Team camp before playing for the Boston Renegades, a W-league team. She was then selected to play Women's Professional Soccer by the Boston Breakers in the ninth round as the 57th overall draft pick.
In addition to her duties with the Aggie soccer team, Martino instructed youth players on an individual basis and helped coach "Technical Tuesdays" for the Brazos Valley Futbol Club.
Martino is a 2004 graduate of Alta High School where she led her team to the 2002 Utah 5A State Championship and finished as the school's all-time assist leader and second on the all-time goals list.
She earned her B.S. in agricultural leadership from Texas A&M in 2009.
