COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M softball team finished the 2010 season ranked 20th in the final USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll release by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday.
The Aggies participated in their ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament, advanced to the Regional finals, and ended their season with a 44-16 record.
A&M softball saw five student-athletes garner All-Big 12 honors (Rhi Kliesing, Alex Reynolds, Lauren Schwirtlich), three were selected to the central all-region team (Kliesing, May, Dumezich), and freshman catcher, May, was named an All-American, which was the 31st such award in Aggie softball history.
The National Champion UCLA Bruins claimed the top spot in the poll, followed by national runner-up Arizona. Georgia, Tennessee and Washington round out the top five, respectively. Joining these teams in the top 10 are No. 6 Florida, No. 7 Hawaii, No. 8 Missouri, No. 9 Alabama and No. 10 Michigan.
Five Big 12 schools were ranked in the top 25: No. 8 Missouri, No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 18 Texas, No. 20 Texas A&M and No. 23 Oklahoma State.
