Texas A&M's Jordan Russell fired a final round 4-under par 67 to grab a runner-up finish at the 101st Texas Amateur Championships on Sunday at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
           Russell, a sophomore from A&M Consolidated in College Station, finished the tournament at 9-under after posting rounds of 69, 69, 70 and 67, which left him five strokes behind champion Chris Ward of McKinney. Ward, a senior at Texas Tech, also won the Big 12 individual crown earlier this year.
                 Fellow Aggie Bryant Lach of The Woodlands tied for fifth place at 7-under for the tournament with rounds of 68, 66, 70, and 73. With their top 20 finishes, Russell and Lach both earned exemptions to next year's Texas Amateur, which will be contested at the Austin Country Club.
