CORAL GABLES, Fla.—Joe Patterson and Brodie Greene in the third.
Dartmouth did its damage in the fourth, taking advantage of an error on a sure inning-ending double-play ball to score three unearned runs. With the bases loaded, Jake Carlson flared a ball inside the line in right in front of Ty Naquin to put the Big Green on the board. Then, with two outs, Brett Gardner delivered a huge go-ahead, two-run single through the left side.
The score remained the same until Patterson drove a two-out, 0-1 pitch from Dartmouth closer Ryan Smith down the left field line and over the fence for his ninth home run of the year.
The game then was delayed for one hour and seven minutes two pitches into the bottom of the eighth, and upon resumption the Big Green managed two infield singles off Stilson to put the go-ahead run at third base with two outs. Stilson then got Carlson to ground up the middle, where a nice play by Brodie Greene had two hits to raise his season total to 102, five shy of the school single-season record … A&M improved to 6-1 under coach Brodie Greene extended his hit streak to seven games with a first-inning single … Sunday's game was the fourth ever by Texas A&M against an Ivy League school, and first against Dartmouth … the Aggies are 1-1 all-time vs Cornell and last played an Ivy team in the 1993 Central I Regional at Olsen Field, when they defeated Yale … the game was stopped at 2:13 local time for a lightning/rain delay which lasted for one hour, seven minutes … play resumed at 3:20 p.m.
