STARKVILLE, Miss. - Texas A&M softball signees Amber Garza and Emily Albus were named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association High School All-America first team, the NFCA announced.

Texas A&M was one of just two schools to have a pair of signees on the NFCA All-America first team.

Albus (Brenham, Texas) was honored at shortstop and her batting average of .661 was the highest of any of the 81 All-American candidates this season. She also had an on-base percentage of .796, a slugging percentage of .895 and stole 70 of 75 bases.

Albus is now a four-time NFCA All-American and earned the NFCA/adidas Golden Show Award in 2009 for 70 stolen bases in 73 attempts. At Brenham High School she was a three-time all-state honoree and a four-time All-Brazos Valley first team member. Albus was a first-team all-district selection as a freshman and garnered the District 18-4A MVP award for three straight years. She earned first-team all region recognition in 2010 as well. Albus plays travel ball for the Impact Gold.

Garza (Elkins, Texas) earned the honor at third base and finished her senior year with a .408 batting average, while driving in 33 runs off of 11 doubles, five triples and six home runs.

Garza comes to A&M from Elkins High School and is now a two-time NFCA All-American and three-time all-state student-athlete. In four years as a varsity letterwinner, she earned all-district first team honors four times, was named the UIL 23-5A Newcomer of the Year in 2007 and was a member of the all-region first team twice. Garza plays travel ball for the Missouri City Magic.

Albus and Garza, along with fellow A&M softball signees Nicole Morgan (The Woodlands, Texas), Taran Tyler (Katy, Texas) and Cassie Tysarczyk (San Antonio, Texas) are set to join the Aggies for the 2010-11 season.
