Texas A&M senior-to-be Sarah Zwartynski (Allen, Texas) continued her strong 2010 season by winning the Women's Texas State Amateur Championship on Friday at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
Zwartynski defeated San Antonio's Erica Pressley, 4-and-2, in the match play championship final. In the previous four rounds, Zwartynski had defeated Karisma Smith (2-up), current A&M teammate Aly Smith (3-and-1), Hannah Arnold (5-and-4) and Carolyn Creekmore (3-and-2).
Friday's Women's State Amateur victory is added to Zwartynski's 2010 resume that already includes her first collegiate individual victory at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic, All-Big 12 honors, clinching the Aggies' Big 12 team title with a par putt on the 54th hole, leading the Aggies to an 11th place finish at the NCAA Championships, and earning a spot in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
