GODFREY, Ill. - Texas A&M men's tennis All-American Austin Krajicek (pronounced CRY-check) has advanced to the finals of the Lewis and Clark Community College USTA Men's Futures Tennis Tournament.

The senior left-hander from Brandon, Fla., is competing this summer as an amateur on the USTA Pro Circuit and will be making his first appearance in the finals of a professional event Sunday when he goes up against Robbye Poole for the tournament title.

Krajicek, ranked No. 1000 in the ATP World Tour, upset No. 3 seed and 522nd-ranked Blake Strode, 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the quarterfinals earlier today and then came back after dropping the first set to defeat No. 866-ranked Rhyne Williams, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, in the semifinals.

Krajicek, who won three matches in straight sets in the qualifying round to advance to the 32-player main draw, has won seven straight matches in the tournament to reach the finals, and only his semifinal victory went three sets.

Krajicek began the main draw by defeating Joshua Zavala, 6-3, 6-2. He then knocked off No. 5 seed and University of Virginia signee Alexander Domijan, who is ranked No. 542 in the ATP World Tour. Krajicek advanced to the quarterfinals with the 6-1, 7-6 (1) win against Domijan.

Krajicek also competed in doubles and advanced to the semifinals with partner Jamere Jenkins before being eliminated by Jean Andersen and Joshua Zavala, 7-5, 3-6 (10-8).

Former Aggie All-American Conor Pollock also participated in the tournament. He and partner Maciek Sykut fell in the doubles quarterfinals, 6-4, 7-6 (2) to Jordan Cox and Evan King. Pollock fell in the first round of the singles main draw, 7-6 (8), 6-4, to John-Paul Fruittero.
