COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 2010 Texas A&M soccer team reports to campus today and begins its first practice session Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
The Aggies hold two practices a day on Wednesday and Thursday at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and continue daily training until their season opener at home on Aug. 20 against the back-to-back national champion North Carolina. All practices are open to the public.
"The first day of our preseason training camp is always filled with lots of energy and positive emotions," A&M head coach G Guerrieri said. "Our players look fit and I know they are very motivated to do some special things this season. I can't wait to get into the stadium and get started!"
Texas A&M returns 11 starters and 19 letterwinners from a 2009 squad that went 15-7-3 overall and 6-2-2 in Big 12 play. The Aggies earned their 15th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, advanced to the Sweet 16 of the championship, and finished the season ranked 13th in the nation by the NSCAA.
The Aggies start the 2010 season with six straight home games, including an exhibition match against Rice on Aug. 14 and their home season-opener versus UNC on Aug. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
With one of the toughest rated schedules in the nation, A&M competes against eight teams that received bids to the NCAA Championship a year ago.
