ATLANTA - Texas A&M's Danielle Adams was named to the 2010-11 preseason watch list for the State Farm® Wade Trophy Division I Player of the Year as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

The prestigious 25-member list is comprised of the top NCAA Division I women's basketball student-athletes who best embody the spirit of Lily Margaret Wade based on the criteria of: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.

Adams, a 6-foot-1 senior combination forward/center for the Aggies, was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year last season after leading Texas A&M in scoring with 16.3 points per game, while also ranking fifth in the conference in blocks (45) and offensive rebounds per game (2.9). In her hometown of Kansas City, Mo., Adams was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship. She was also a finalist for the prestigious 10-member State Farm Kodak All-America Team. The All-Big 12 Second Team selection became only the second A&M player in school history and 10th all-time player in league history to register a triple-double with a career-high 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocked shots against Texas Tech on Jan. 23 earning her a nod as Big 12 Player of the Week. She led the team in scoring on 17 occasions off the bench last season including three double-double performances and seven 20-point outings.

The State Farm Wade Trophy, now in its 34th year and named after the late, legendary three-time national champion Delta State University coach, Lily Margaret Wade, debuted in 1978 as the first-ever women's national player of the year award in college basketball. This highly prestigious award, regarded as the "Heisman of Women's Basketball," is organized by the WBCA, in conjunction with the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS).

The 2011 State Farm Wade Trophy winner will be announced at the WBCA National Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Final Four, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Wade Trophy Coalition was established in June of 2000 when the WBCA partnered with The National Association of Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS). For the past nine years the two have worked together to present The State Farm Wade Trophy Player of the Year Award. A committee comprised of coaches, administration and media from across the United States selects the winner.
