Aug. 6, 2010
Over 100 of the nation's best divers will converge on the Texas A&M University campus for the AT&T National Diving Championships Aug. 10-15 at the Student Recreation Natatorium.
One of USA Diving's most prestigious events, the AT&T National Diving Championships will crown 10 national champions over the six-day event. Competitions will be held in the men's and women's 1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard, 10-meter platform, synchronized 3-meter springboard and synchronized 10-meter platform.
The AT&T National Diving Championships is the first step in the quest to earn a coveted spot at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Olympians expected to compete include David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind.), Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.), Troy Dumais (Austin, Texas), Haley Ishimatsu (Seal Beach, Calif,) and Laura Wilkinson (Spring, Texas). Other divers with Texas ties expected to compete include U.S. national champion Drew Livingston (The Woodlands, Texas/University of Texas).
Boudia and Livingston are no strangers to the Texas A&M campus after combining to win all three diving events at the 2009 NCAA Championships that were contested at the Student Recreation Natatorium. Boudia, representing Purdue University, won the 3-meter springboard and the platform, while Livingston, from the University of Texas, won the 1-meter board. Also winning a NCAA Championship in College Station was Dumais, who swept the springboard events at the 2001 NCAA Championships while competing for the Texas Longhorns.
Four-time Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis will be signing autographs from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Aug. 14.
