COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Aggie football team worked out twice on Monday going outside in full pads in the morning and coming back in shorts and shoulder pads in the afternoon session inside the McFerrin Athletic Center.

"We had two pretty good practices today," Texas A&M head football coach Mike Sherman said. "It is still about improving each day and with each practice. I think our maturity is helping and the players understand the process. The competition is helping to push guys to get better."

"The defense had a good morning practice and I thought the offense responded well this afternoon," Sherman stated.

Asked about players who may have stood out after Sherman and the coaches studied the tape of the Sunday scrimmage, Sherman had praise for junior running back Bradley Stephens (from McAllen Memorial High School), sophomore linebacker Kyle Mangan (from Brenham), junior defensive lineman Eddie Brown (from Waller) as well as the young offensive linemen.

Attending the afternoon practice was Lufkin's Jorvorskie Lane, a four-year Aggie letterman as a running back (2005-08). Lane ended his A&M career setting the school record for rushing touchdowns with 49. He tied the school record for rushing touchdowns in a season with 19 in 2006.

The Aggies open the 2010 season on Sept. 4 against Stephen F. Austin with kick scheduled for 6 p.m. at Kyle Field. For ticket information, call 1-888-99-AGGIE (888-992-4443) or go to AggieAthletics.com and click on tickets.
