COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Aggie football team worked out once on Tuesday going outside in full pads for over two hours.

"I thought we were pretty sluggish today," Texas A&M head football coach Mike Sherman said. "Some of that is because of our lack of numbers and depth with a few guys out, but we didn't cut back our work load. We can't afford to stack back-to-back bad practices together. It's important from a consistency standpoint and important as a team to put back-to-back good practices together."

Sherman had praise for Aggie backup quarterback and wide receiver junior Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill gets reps at quarterback and then jumps into the wide receiver slot and runs precise routes and catches the ball. In high school he also punted. Tannehill plans on becoming an orthopedic surgeon after his football playing days are finished and Sherman mentioned that is not a bad occupation, but believes Tannehill can play at the next level.

Attending today's practice was Lufkin's Alton Dixon, a four-year Aggie letterman as a defensive back (2005-08). Dixon earned special teams MVP honors as a sophomore and was a senior captain and named the defensive MVP as a senior in 2008.
