COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M senior midfielder Rachel Shipley was selected as a Soccer America Preseason All-American, the organization announced Thursday.
From Plano, Texas, Shipley is coming off of a career season in which she was named to the All-Big 12 first team, the NSCAA All-Central Region first team and the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Season. She led the Aggies with 27 points, nine assists, 87 shots and 33 shots on goal last year. She was second on the team with nine goals and ended the season ranked third in the Big 12 in points, assists and shots.
Shipley adds the All-America accolade to her list of preseason honors that already includes being chosen to the MAC's Hermann Trophy Watch List, being named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team as the only unanimous selection and being designated as a Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Candidate.
Shipley was the only Soccer America Preseason All-American from the Big 12 Conference.
Shipley and the eighth-ranked Aggies take to the pitch for their first regular season match this Friday against No. 1 North Carolina at 7:30 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
