UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Three members of the Texas A&M golf program will participate in the prestigious U.S. Amateur Championships this week outside Seattle.

The Amateur, which begins today and runs through Sunday, will utilize two courses for stroke play--Chambers Bay (7,742 yards, par 71) and The Home Course (7,420 yards, par 72). The field of 312 golfers will compete in two rounds of stroke play, then will be cut to the low 64 scorers for match play beginning Wednesday morning. A 36-hole, match-play final is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 29.

Senior all-region honoree Andrea Pavan (Rome, Italy)--who completed his eligibility this spring--in representing the Aggies.

Shindler and Peck are slated to play The Home course, with tee times scheduled for 8:05 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. (PDT) this morning, respectively. Meanwhile, Pavan will tee off on Chambers Bay at 2 p.m. (PDT). Peck will be playing just a few minutes from his hometown of Olympia.
