UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Texas A&M golfers Conrad Shindler and Cameron Peck fared well in the first round of the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championships on Monday outside of Seattle.

With just a handful of golfers still on the course when play was suspended late in the evening, Shindler sits in a tie for 15th place after shooting a 1-under-par 71 on The Home Course. Peck, meanwhile, sits one stroke back in a tie for 24th after an even-par 72 on the same track.

Both Aggies sit in strong position to advance into the match play portion of the championship. The field of over 300 golfers will be narrowed to 64 after the second round of stroke play on Tuesday.

Former All-American Andrea Pavan is currently three strokes back of the cut after firing a five-over-par 76 on the Chambers Bay course.

47-year-old Jeff Wilson has a seven-stroke lead on the field thanks to a 10-under-par 62.

Play will resume at 7 a.m. (PDT) on Tuesday and will be immediately followed by the second round. Fans can follow the action by logging on to usga.org and clicking on the U.S. Amateur link on the right side of the page.
