Aggies Bow Out of U.S. Amateur Championships

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Texas A&M golfers Andrea Pavan each fell in the first round of match play competition Wednesday at the 2010 U.S. Amateur Championships outside of Seattle.

Shindler, a senior from Coppell, was all square with Skip Berkmeyer of St. Louis, Mo., through 16 holes, but Berkmeyer birdied the 17th and 18th to win the match, 2 up.

Peck, a sophomore playing just a few miles from his hometown of Olympia, fell 2 and 1 to Scott Strohmeyer of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Pavan, a native of Italy who completed his A&M eligibility this spring, was defeated by John Hahn of Las Vegas, 2 and 1.

Texas A&M opens the 2010-11 season Sept. 9-11 when the Aggies travel to Tanagura, Japan to compete in the Topy Cup.
