COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Just over a week away from kicking off of its 2010 campaign, the Texas A&M football team took the field Thursday morning for a solid work-out in full pads at the Coolidge Grass Practice Fields.

"We're making progress," Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman said. "You always shoot for perfection. You hardly ever get it, but you shoot for it every day. I think we are making progress. We had a very good scrimmage yesterday and I asked them to come out again in pads this morning. I'm sure most of them thought we wouldn't be. I just wanted to throw them a curveball and see how they handled it. They handled it pretty well so I thought we made progress and have throughout our camp."

Sherman was asked later about the improvements in the kicking game during the last few practices.

"The kicking has improved and my sleeping has improved, because we are kicking better I'm sleeping better. We were horrendous at one point in the week, but I thought we punted the ball really well yesterday during the scrimmage in about 30 kicking situations. For the most part it was pretty good. I thought Randy Bullock, both yesterday and today, hit the ball really well. We've got some things worked out with him and what he was doing wrong. Our punters, for the most part, have punted pretty well each of the last two days so hopefully that will continue into next week and next weekend.

The Aggies will go through one workout on Friday morning inside the McFerrin Athletic Center beginning at 6:35 a.m. The session is closed to the general public.

Stephen F. Austin pays a visit to Kyle Field on Sept. 4 as the Lumberjacks and Aggies kick off the 2010 season with a 6 p.m. contest. For ticket information about the upcoming Texas A&M football season, call 1-888-99-AGGIE (888-992-4443) or go to AggieAthletics.com and click on tickets.
