The collegiate competition will include 15 schools, many of which are from the South Central Region. The high school division has 50-plus schools with 1,600-plus runners.

Ranked men's teams in the South Central Region scheduled to compete at the Texas A&M Invitational include the No. 3 Aggies, No. 4 Texas, No. 6 Baylor, and No. 15 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Women's teams ranked in the region include No. 1 Baylor, No. 2 Rice, No. 4 SMU, No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 7 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and No. 12 Texas State.

The Aggie squad, which competed at altitude in New Mexico to begin the season last week, will have 16 men and 11 women competing in the 8,000-meter men's race and the 5,000-meter women's race. The high school races will cover 5,000 meters and 3,200 meters.

MacLean O'Donnell led the men's team at the Lobo Invitational with a fifth-place finish while Kevin Burnett placed 15th. Those two will likely lead the A&M squad again this week along with James Hodges, who will run his first race of the season. The Aggie women had a pair of top 10 finishers in Albuquerque with Katherine Devlin and Natosha Rogers as they placed sixth and eighth, separated by one second.
