COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M midfielder Rachel Shipley was selected as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
A senior from Plano, Texas, Shipley led the Aggie soccer team to its first pair of road victories last weekend with two goals and two assists. Her two goals came in the Aggies' 5-2 win over Indiana and she added a pair of assists in Sunday's 2-1, overtime win at Purdue that improved A&M to 6-1 on the season.
Shipley was integral in both of the goals against Purdue, setting up the game-tying and game-winning scores to up her season total to four assists. She ranks third in the conference with four assists and sixth with 10 points.
The Big 12 Player of the Week honor is the fourth of Shipley's career and comes after she was named the TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week on Monday. The conference award is the third consecutive for the Aggies this season.
No. 6 Texas A&M travels to Portland, Ore., this Friday for a 9 p.m. kickoff against No. 3 Portland. The Aggies then return home for a 6 p.m. match Sunday versus Cal State Northridge.
